Small Things Matter (STM) is a concept that is worthy of sharing with the world. That’s because It’s a simple idea that has profoundly improved the lives of many in our community from our contributions, as well as positively impacted each of our members.

STM is a simple concept which you may choose to replicate in some form with a group of friends or colleagues. You can do this in every suburb, every town, around Australia, around the world. We want to share this idea and we really hope it goes viral. We can leave good deeds to charities, to the caring of others, to happenstance….but we believe in engineered kindness. Maybe we can drop a pebble in the water in the hope it will ripple positively around the oceans.

Who we are.

Who we are is not important. We are simply a small group of business people, in Sydney Australia who like to help others, and have a desire to share our concept so others may benefit similarly if they choose. We are non-denominational and of different socio-economic means; but are all driven by a sense of purpose to make a difference, however small; and to help improve the lives of others less fortunate than ourselves.

How it works and what does it require.

Each month or quarter, a small group (we suggest 10-15 is best) gathers for a meal. Each member is required to donate a common cash donation amount to the centre (in our case $200 each, but you can choose what’s affordable), Camaraderie and friendly banter is enjoyed between members and in between courses one member is required to deliver a presentation detailing how they have recently used our collective funds ($2-$3000 in our case) to seek out a needy individual or small number of individuals whose lives they have significantly impacted by providing assistance.

We refer to the collected amount as ‘the Reddies’. The member vested with the responsibility of acquitting these funds observes certain obligations and guidelines.

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.”
